Heather McLeod’s Bio
Heather McLeod is a new mystery novel writer based in British Columbia, Canada.
She writes about women (sometimes fictional, sometimes herself) working through their grief to reconnect with and help the world. Her stories are set in BC, Canada. Heather writes about the Cowichan Valley and East Kootenay regions.
Heather write traditional, literary crime novels. Her heroes are Louise Penny, Gail Bowen, Iona Whishaw, Rex Stout and Agatha Christie.
Her first mystery novel, One for the Raven, made the top-five shortlist for the Crime Writers of Canada’s 2019 award for best unpublished first novel. She now seeks an agent and publisher for One for the Raven.

With the support of her work-in-progress book club, Heather is now writing her second mystery novel, which is set in Invermere, BC.
Writing about grief
Heather McLeod also writes creative non-fiction on Medium.com. Her stories explore the illness and death of her young husband, grief, widowhood, solo-parenting and her Plan B life.
Heather and her husband owned an organic vegetable farm on Canada’s West Coast for eight years. Brock was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer in 2014, at age 35. He passed away in September of 2017.

Heather and their young son now live in her hometown of Invermere, British Columbia.
