Hello! Thank you for subscribing to new posts on my website. I have some old stories to add, and so you’re about to get 5 email alerts when these are published. I apologize for the sudden email flurry: I can’t stop the email alerts from going out.
These stories were written in 2012, when Brock and I had Makaria Farm. They were published online by The Winnipeg Review. That publication has now closed, so I’m archiving the stories on my website.
To read the stories, you can click the links in the email alerts, or find them on my website here.
I spent a happy hour yesterday looking through old photos to add to the stories: it’s been fun remembering our years on the farm. I sure miss my farmer man.
Hey Heather,
I really enjoyed reading your old posts. You followed a trajectory with feminism that I did (although I’m likely about 15-20 years older.) Started working full time in the big city of Vancouver. Met and married someone and did the condo living and taught myself to can peaches etc when we made a weekend trip through the Okanagan. Fast forward to now living in Mill Bay with a garden, chickens, cats and my kids are grown and more or less gone.
Division of labour is definitely a thing and I’m so glad that I found a balance that worked for my family. It’s not easy. I enjoy both your old and new writings.
